I went to grab/reached for/fumbled for my car keys, only to find that they were missing/gone/vanished into thin air!. My heart sank like a stone/straight to my toes/to the depths of despair. I had searched high and low/every nook and cranny/everywhere imaginable, but those pesky keys were nowhere to be found/had disappeared completely/seemed to have vanished.
Panic/Frustration/Anxiety set in. I needed to get/had to drive/was desperate to reach my appointment on time. My mind raced, trying to retrace/remembering every step/analyzing every move I'd made since last seeing them.
Was it the laundry basket/that couch cushion/behind the refrigerator?
Had I left them in the office?
This was a major headache/was a real pain/was driving me crazy!. Now, what was I going to do about it??
